What Others Are Saying About Be Their Voices
I am writing this testimonial about Be Their Voices on behalf of the family of Bruce Lundmark. Bruce died while being booked into the Clearwater County jail after he spent days in the Beltrami County jail begging for medical help. Rather than taking Bruce to get the medical care he needed, Beltrami jail decided to transfer him to another jail due to “overcrowding”. He didn’t even make it to his cell before he died. Shortly after Bruce’s death my family started learning of his mistreatment by people who were in jail with him and witnessed the mistreatment. Bruce also left a scribbled note in his papers that said, “If I die, sue the shit out of Beltrami”. My family and I did not know how to move forward with this information and what we could do. About the same time, we learned of Hardel Sherrell’s terrible death in the same jail and saw Del Shea speaking up about it and fighting for justice for her son. We decided to reach out to DelShea and let her know our story and see if she could provide direction on how we could get justice. This was when Be Their Voices was only a vision for DelShea, she was working tirelessly to make her vision a reality.
Since then, we have marched with DelShea and she even came to Bemidji Mn and held a rally for the victims that died at the hands of Beltrami County jail. She not only provided us with the tools we needed to begin to get justice she also prayed for us, provided counsel, and answered our questions. She is truly a shining light, and we are so thankful for everything she has done.
Be Their Voices made t-shirts with a picture of our loved ones and made banners and signs. From that day going forward, whenever DelShea is doing an interview or speaking to someone, she will make sure that my uncle, Bruce Lundmark’s name is also mentioned so that he is not forgotten.
We are so grateful for everything DelShea Perry and Be Their Voices have done for our family!
Sincerely,
I met Del Shea Perry at a county board meeting in St. Louis County. She was on her courageous and just mission to END MEND in the jail systems, and to educate the board on BE THEIR VOICES. She shared about the death of her dear son Hardell, and how she was still seeking justice. My heart went out to her as I had been on a similar mission for accountability and justice for my brothers unprosecuted homicide.
Del Shea spent time that very day and listened as I shared my family’s JOURNEY TO JUSTICE.
Del Shea has been a prayer warrior for our family, checking in on updates with my brothers case, and always taking time for me. She has encouraged me to NEVER, EVER, give up on seeking justice!! Her testimony and journey have given me strength— to be my brother’s voice.
May God bless Del Shea, her mission with END MEND and BE THEIR VOICES, and may there be accountability and justice for HARDEL!
AN IMPORTANT LAW THAT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE
For inmates who want their loved one’s to be notified in case of a medical emergency under the Hardel Sherrell Act. During your intake process ask to sign the Authorization of Disclosure and Data Practices Rights Advisory form. This is a release of information form and it’s for your protection! The jailers don’t call it the Hardel Sherrell Act. However it is and it’s a part of the law that may help save your life!
